TerraChi-UTS – Animal Logic Academy

Released Jan 2019 3.5★
The interactive world of TerraChi allows users to influence the world around them using Tai Chi inspired movements. TerraChi is being developed by the 2017 Masters cohort of the UTS Animal Logic Academy.

TerraChi was developed using Unity game engine and utilises advanced machine learning to detect five unique movements using the VR controllers. The experience is optimised for the HTC Vive VR headset. It has recently won “VR Game of the Year” in the 2018 ROOKIES Awards and been selected to showcase at the 2018 Sydney Film Festival – VR Hub, where the general public could get hands-on experience in TerraChi.

wonderful experience of what it would feel like to actually cultivate chi.
The first thing i did when i started the game was to try one of the tai chi moves i learnt in school. and WOW i made some water appear, it was a great feeling.
I found the button that shows all the moves and started practicing them. i especially like the time travel one and of course making trees grow from the ground and then destroying them with my fireballs was fun. it was mesmerising experience and i can even practice my tai chi here. it is like a secluded world away from everything and you can practice in peace. well done. *tip to anyone else wanting to try* Hit the menu button and select the option i think it is called ‘moves’ it’ll display all the moves for you to practice.

We don’t know what to do..
After a 15 minute search for something to do, we found the “Grass” type movement thing, and my wife spent another 5 minutes copying the motion the instructor gave. She grew a great number of trees but the tutor learning never ended, so we turned the game off and deleted it.

Beautiful scenary and comforting music while being in this world. However, the game was glitchy that made me feel slightly sick and the hand motion was off.
